Hermann Hauser Senior (1882-1952)from Munich, is perhaps the most iconic name in guitar construction. Despite his German heritage, he totally absorbed and mastered the Spanish tradition of lutherie based on the work of Antonio de Torres. From his first meeting with Andres Segovia and Miguel Llobet in 1924, Hauser built 250 guitars up to 1952. These instruments have become highly coveted by performers and collectors alike. Julian Bream played a Torres/Llobet inspired Hauser I from 1928 (on loan) - very similar to this example save for the maple back.
This guitar, a Llobet model is in very good condition with just one repaired crack on one side. It has been refinished by Gabriel Lodi in Italy, so it's in perfect modern playing condition. The sound is even,bell like and sweet as one expects. You can hear:
