A special guitar in every way. It was ordered by the well known collector Dr James Westbrook in 2001. He requested an instrument with French polish (most being nitro) and Madagascar rosewood back and sides, the norm being Indian rosewood. Without doubt this elevates the tone of the guitars purity and projection.
Hermann Hauser III is part of prestigeious luthier family from Munich, started by his grand father Hermann Hauser I (1882-1952). The line now continues with the third son and his daughter Katrin Hauser.
The instrument No.495 is everything one expects. The sound is balanced, sweet, clear and with the all important low body pitch. It projects very well in large halls. Now 25 years old, it's in excellent condition with no cracks or major marks. The polish is still bright and the dove-tail joint is masterly,
It has had one owner since Mr. Westbrook. The guitar comes with full provenance including extracts from a book by James Westbrook and a historical foreward page by Hermann Hauser III himself. So, this guitar can be condisdered an investmant as wel;l as a superb muiscal instrument.
