Domingo Esteso (1882-1937) originally trained with the luthier Manuel Ramirez Senior. Having set up his own work shop, Esteso nurtured his nephews with the name Conde.
The label in this guitar is signed by the brothers at the Gravina 7 Madrid address.
There is no doubting the talent of these young men carrying on the family tradition. They are justly famous for their flamenco guitars, later played by Paco de Lucia amongst others. This guitar is a negra and will please flamenco players or a classical musician wanting powerful brilliant sound, mixed with sweetness.
The condition of this guitar is exceptional. The tone woods are of the very highest quality and the rosette is a masterpiece on it own! There are hardly any noticeable marks on the instrument. There is one hairline crack parallel to the fretboard on the bass side. This is stable and can't progress in any direction. There is no sign of this inside, so is a grain crack in the polish.
The original machines seem to work but have not been tested on the guitar.
This a very rare guitar in excellent condition with a fantastic sound.
