NOW ON SALE - £4695 reduced from £4995. A very fine example by the award winning British luthier from Bexhill Sussex.
Philip Woodfield has become recognised as a top luthier having been making for over thirty years. Being a fine player himself, he has committed his work to making instruments that sound generous and play with ease. Although this path has led him to modern-day techniques including raised fingerboards, lattice bracing, sound ports and carbon components, his process of luthierie remains traditional.
In his own words:
‘I really enjoy the fine woodworking process and it has been a part of my life since childhood. My approach to guitar making is ‘hands on’ and organic. I limit the use of machines because I enjoy using hand tools and find that this makes the instruments more personal. I use traditional glue for many of the significant joints and the guitars are finished only in natural shellac’. woodfieldguitars.com/philosophy
This guitar is a wonderful ‘concert’ guitar with a particularly bold, deep and powerful tone. It is bespoke made, with extra goodies including a stunning Celtic Eagle motive to the rosette, head, machines and bridge. The condition is very good for a twelve year old instrument, with only the slightest signs of use such as minor players marks and a few faded patches to the polish. Detailed pictures and video are available.
This guitar is part of pair, made especially for a husband and wife duo. They are very personal and original instruments. This one is named ‘May’.
There is currently a waiting list of some years for a new Woodfield guitar. Notable players such as Scott Tennant, Ray Burley, Fiona Harrison and Guilio Tampalini perform professionally with Woodfield guitars.
Includes new CNB hard case.
