Marcelo Barbero is considered one of the most influential Spanish flamenco guitar luthiers. Born 1904, he crafted his talents firstly as a floor sweeper in the work shop of Ramirez I, then as a luthier under Ramirez II from about 1923. He was also greatly influenced by Santos Hernandez and is considered as the heir to this esteemed master. Barbero is known to have completed guitars of Santos Hernandez after his death in 1943. Barbero later championed Manuel Reyes who carried on the tradition to such acclaim.

This guitar has that huge open passionate sound, so loved by Barbero followers and justly made him famous. The response is fast and dynamic with rich overtones.

Perhaps the lightest of all flamenco guitars, it has survived much playing structurally since 1949. The French polish is missing from the neck but can be replaced if a buyer wanted. There is one front crack well repaired many years ago and totally stable. There's a repaired hairline crack to the side. Kindly ask for detailed pictures.

A rare, valuable, usable guitar that does not fail to make you smile!

Comes with original Spanish case in good usable condition.
